Up/Down: Nikolas Brouillard (D) | Orlando Solar Bears -> Toronto Marlies | https://t.co/mwFW5IS0yD #AHL

Nikolas Brouillard was one of the most interesting signings by the Marlies this past offseason. He was a scoring machine in the Q, but went undrafted for the usual reasons: Il est pas grand.
He has spent the season in Orlando so far, but the Marlies have an injury to Rinat Valiev that they’ve been covering with a rotating crew of other young signings, and this may be a chance to see Brouillard in the mix.
I wrote a little about his development path here in a piece mostly about Tony Cameranesi. Don Money, a much, much more knowledgeable source for things Solar Bears than I said in comments there, “Interestingly Brouillard spent eight games on an early December road trip playing forward (injuries up front) and in my opinion it helped his confidence on the blue line”
If Brouillard can bring some scoring to a team that sorely needs it, and has their own injuries up front including Kasperi Kapanen and many others, that would be welcome.
The Marlies play the Amerks on Wednesday, so it will be very interesting to see if he draws into the lineup and how he does.
In other somewhat surprising news, another summertime signing of the Marlies has suddenly appeared. Shane Conacher will be joining the Solar Bears. No explanation has ever been given for his absence up until now.
