It’s a bird!

It’s a plane!

No! It’s Nic Petan getting sent to the AHL and scoring twice in a 7-4 Marlies win on the same day!

Wow, that’s a mouthful. Also, I think I’m mixing up my superhero catchphrases.

Anyway, Nic Petan is finally on the Marlies and playing hockey games again. After being waived on October 1st and recalled on the 3rd, Petan had two days before his waivers kicked in again and he would need to be passed through the league. As the Leafs are open to trading him, that wouldn’t have been a good idea. And since the Marlies were heading out on a road trip anyway, best to get him out there on time rather than late. That’s the story as we have it.

Nic Petan has been sent to the Marlies as they leave for a road trip this weekend

Speaking of the Marlies 7-4 win, I’ll have a recap of the weekend series after tomorrow’s game, but in the meantime here’s what happened. The Marlies were barely playing above water in the first two periods, failing to get very many good chances. The Belleville Senators were swallowing up the middle of the ice and hounding the forwards so they didn’t have time and space to shoot. In the third period, everything changed and the flood doors opened. The Marlies landed 22 shots on Marcus Hogberg in the third period alone, scoring four times en route to a 7-4 win. Here are some of the highlights. [Boxscore]

Petan #1:

Kenny Agostino from Jesper Lindgren and Rasmus Sandin. Yeah, two defensemen! (P.S. That’s Rich Clune playing the role of proud big brother and hype man in front of the camera).

Petan #2:

If you want to hear more about the Marlies game and get an update on the team from October, check out my hit on the Locked On Leafs Podcast! Michael had me on after the game and we talked about all the things Leafs fans care about down in the AHL. I swear, this doesn’t count as cheating on Arvind and Fulemin.

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get to this, BUT THE FASHION REPORT FOR OCTOBER IS HERE AND IT’S EVERYTHING I IMAGINED. FLOWERS! PATTERNS! COLOURS! FREDDYS!

October Fashion Recap: Fall Foliage

The Tampa Bay Lightning traded a goalie and the New Jersey Devils got him. Why can’t we ever get anything nice?

Tampa Bay Lightning trade goaltender Louis Domingue to New Jersey Devils

They’re stealing the seventh round from us. This means WAR. Or GAR.

Sticking on the Lightning, here’s a nice little angry article about penalties from Friend of the Blog Alan (loserpoints). It’s interesting to see where the Leafs are on his various penalty charts. Positively normal.
