Joe Colborne is 6'5" Canadian center. He played two years at Denver in the WCHA with Tyler Bozak and Tyler Ruegsegger.
He's had a tough year in the AHL so far but let's look at his other numbers:
Age | Season | Team | League | GP | G | A | Pts | PIM |
17 | 08-09 | Denver | NCAA | 40 | 10 | 21 | 31 | 24 |
18 | 09-10 | Denver | NCAA | 39 | 22 | 19 | 41 | 30 |
19 | 09-10 | Providence | AHL | 6 | 0 | 2 | 2 | 2 |
20 | 10-11 | Providence | AHL | 55 | 12 | 14 | 26 | 35 |

Has the size that every team dreams of but is still learning how to use it to his full advantage. The growth spurt is still relatively recent and so Colborne is still making the adjustment mentally that he can do much more than he believes he can from a physical perspective.
Just like Jake Gardiner our newest acquisition sat 2nd on Boston's prospect depth behind only a player that stepped into an NHL role immediately this season.
From that link Colborne is a playmaker looking to dish the puck. If he lives up to his potential he'll make the centerpiece of a great line with Nazem Kadri and Phil Kessel.
In the short term Colborne has to work on his game with the Marlies. No doubt Dallas Eakins is excited to put him between Nasty Naz and Fabian Brunnstrom to start wrecking opponents as the Marlies make a push for the playoffs. In the future we should look to Colborne to make the jump to a sheltered scoring line with Nazem Kadri before blossoming into what we hope he can be.
Like Nazem Kadri we need to be patient with Colborne. He's a great prospect but will need time to develop. If the Leafs can buy him the time he needs this could be a trade we look back on fondly.

Have you had a chance to see much of Boston? What are your impressions of the city and Bruins fans?
I have been to Boston a number of times and love the city. There is a ton of history and so many things to do. One of my favorite aspects of the city is how passionate the fans are for their sports.
Welcome to the jungle kid.
