The fun thing about Funko Pop! figures is that they’re adorable. The not-fun thing about them is that they don’t have any NHL representation - until now. And naturally, if you’re releasing a handful of NHL players, at least one of them has to be a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs, right?
But what’s Funko to do? The Leafs are in the midst of a rebuild, and while they’ve got a ton of young, awesome players, most have yet to establish themselves. (Sure, an Auston Matthews Pop! would be cool, but we should probably wait for him to actually play an NHL game, first.)
Good thing there was an easy solution: Morgan Rielly has now played three NHL seasons, and he’s been pretty awesome. So he gets the call - and as one of just six figures to be available in both home and away uniforms, at that.
And with the Leafs’ new logo! It looks fantastic all around.
