Good morning Toronto Maple Leafs fans!

Ryan Reaves had a big day yesterday: a nice phone call meeting with the Department of Player Safety over his head hit on Darnell Nurse Saturday night.

The result: a five game suspension.

This is the longest suspension of his career, previously having one, two, and three game suspensions in the past; most recently two games in the 2021 playoffs when he was with the Vegas Golden Knights.

NHL suspends Golden Knights’ Reaves 2 games
The NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced a two-game suspension for Vegas forward Ryan Reaves Monday, after his match penalty for attempting to injure an opponent during Game 1 vs. Colorado.

So, Reaves will be out for the following games:

  • Wed. Nov. 20th vs Vegas
  • Sun. Nov. 24th vs Utah
  • Wed. Nov. 27th at Florida
  • Sat. Nov. 30th at Tampa
  • Mon. Dec. 2nd vs Chicago

Reaves will be eligible to return on Wednesday, December 4th vs the Nashville Predators.

Big picture wise it's good that we're only losing Reaves, there are plenty of extra forwards who would like his few minutes of nice time.
