This morning it was announced that London Knight's forward and top Maple Leafs prospect Mitchell Marner was awarded the Red Tilson Trophy, awarded to the Ontario Hockey League's "Most Outstanding Player".
Marner scored 39 goals, and made 77 assists, totaling 116 points over just 56 games.
"It’s a big award and an honour, but it wouldn’t have happened without my teammates," said Marner. "Building upon the three years with the whole coaching staff and without the guys on the team this wouldn’t have happened. It’s a great award, but we still have a way to go."
Marner has scored 15 goals and 22 assists in 14 playoff games so far this year, putting him, on top of OHL scoring for the post-season. Marner is the second Leafs prospect to win the award in the past three years, after Connor Brown won in 2014.
The London Knights face off against the Niagara IceDogs for the J. Ross Robertson Cup starting Thursday night.
