Sergei Berezin 25, Vince Damphousse 21, tied with Thomas and Grabovski.
His goal today also has some salary cap implications for the Leafs, as they are now on the hook for a $200K bonus to be paid to Matthews for hitting 20 goals (according to CapFriendly). Money well spent, to be sure.
The Leafs might have a few more of these to pay out to the young American, who now leads rookies in scoring (a point ahead of Winnipeg’s Patrik Laine with three games in hand) and is 20th in league-wide scoring. Somehow, I don’t think Lou will be too upset.
