Wednesday night was Mitch Marner and JJ Piccinich's time to shine. Thursday night was all about Martins Dzierkals.
The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies defeated the Shawinigan Cataractes 7-2 to capture their first ever Presidents Cup title, and will represent the QMJHL against the London Knights, Red Deer Rebels, and (most likely) Brandon Wheat Kings in the 2016 Memorial Cup.
The Huskies were coming into this game with a 3-1 series lead over Shawinigan, looking to win their first championship in their 20 year history in front of 3,600 loud, passionate hometown fans.
The Huskies set the tone quickly when Anthony-John Greer took advantage of a Shawinigan high-sticking penalty just 45 seconds into the game. It took half a minute on the power play for Greer to open up the scoring and give the Huskies a lead they would never surrender.
Timo Mier, Martins Dzierkals, and Philippe Myres would all score in the first to put the score after 20 at 4-1 (Charles Tailon scored for Shawinigan) and out of reach of the visitors.

Our own Martins Dzierkals would score the final goal of the series as well, potting #7 two minutes into the third period and the Huskies would ride the rest of the game to victory..

Dzierkals finished the playoff with 7 goals and 10 assists in 20 playoff games.
Leafs prospect on Shawinigan, Dmytro Timashov, would be help pointless and left a minus-1 on the night, ending his season in a disappointing fashion. Will he be the next kid tapped to spend time with the Marlies, or will he head home to Sweden for the summer?
Timashov finished the playoffs with 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points in 21 playoff games.

Our preview for the 2016 Memorial Cup can be seen next week.
