Cormier did not receive a QO from the Devils this past summer making he a UFA.
He played in the AHL last season with the Binghamton Devils. https://t.co/3jLYXD9DqQ
Cormier is only 23, and was a fourth-round draft pick of the Devils in 2016. He has split his time playing in the ECHL and AHL, and has one official game played in the NHL for the Devils.
He would still be waivers exempt, making him a good choice to add on a contract as an extra in the minors. The Maple Leafs lost Ian Scott for “some time” after a very brief appearance in game one of the preseason, and Joe Woll has some injury not thought to be serious.
