Borya Valis is 20, originally from Denver, but he has been playing in the WHL for four seasons. He can go right to the Marlies when his season in Prince George is over. A PTO can have him join the AHL later this spring as long as he's not in the Memorial Cup.

He is a right-shooting forward, slightly above average in size and his career in the WHL has him at .92 points per game.

Elite Prospects had him in their draft guide two years ago, but Valis was never drafted:

Give Valis a bit of space, and he takes the puck straight to the net. He slips away from defenders for chances at the top of the slot, too. Even more impressive as a passer, he sets up chances with quick plays off the boards and deceptive feeds through opponents. He enters every battle with a couple of shoulder-checks, mapping out his options. -EliteProspects 2023 NHL Draft Guide

Valis was traded to Prince George last season and played in 15 playoff games for them, his first taste of the post season after he began on the Regina Pats. Prince George has clinched the playoffs again this year.

Valis is not a top line player, rather he's seventh in points on the team and has the profile of a middle-six forechecker.

Puckpedia has him listed at $872,500 in cap hit, with the three-year deal beginning next season. The contract includes a performance bonus of just over $100,000.
