Yesterday, the Toronto Maple Leafs put Michael Hutchinson on waivers, and today they have called up Nic Petan (to fill the opening left by Mitch Marner’s injury) and Kasimir Kaskisuo.

Kasimir Kaskisuo is expected to be the Leafs backup for some undefined period of time. But any idea that Kyle Dubas planned things this way seems to be contradicted by this:
The Maple Leafs have been exploring the goalie market recently, as we reported. Among their search, told they reached out to Scott Darling, who opted to go to Austria. For now, barring a change, appears Kasimir Kaskisuo will get the call up.

Kaskisuo played in 30 games for the Marlies last season with a .896 Save %. He had a hot run at the very end of the season, while Hutchinson was on the Leafs, and carried on for part of the playoffs.
Petan is a known quantity, too good for the AHL, not really suited for the current Leafs fourth line. He might show up on the third line for the time being.
If the Leafs wish to activate Zach Hyman, they will need to place Mitch Marner on LTIR.
Zach Hyman will return for #LeafsForever on Wednesday vs #Isles. #NHL

UPDATE: looks like Hyman is going to be back, and Moore is up over Petan on the third line.

One apparent change to the Leafs PP1: John Tavares moving back to the net-front spot he occupied last year (10 goals).

Andreas Johnsson moves to the bumper position.
