In today's practice, the single group – the former Group One with some of Group Two added in – looked like this:
Masters is either typo-ing or implying that the 2C position is still up in the air. With multiple players out injured, this lineup would normally have John Tavares as 3C and Calle Järnkrok pushing Bobby McMann out and leaving the status of Nick Robertson a little less clear.
Steven Lorentz is not signed yet, but that fourth line looks to be the one you'll see in the regular season.
The defence pairs are interesting but could be aimed at setting up Thurday's roster. The Leafs play on the road in Detroit on Thursday, where we should expect a lot of those NHL lines to be replaced with the rest of the roster. (Last year the Leafs actually recalled some who'd been cut.) The final game at home on Saturday will likely feature the opening day lineup – or near as.
It's expected some cuts will come later today, but final rosters are not due for another week, so there's plenty of time to make decisions.
Now, get bonding, Leafs.
