Ok, so first off, there is nothing better than catching a debilitating flu from a one-year old baby and having it ruin two Christmases. Of course, while Chemmy Cratchit was posting his little photoshop holiday wishes I was getting the Future Mrs. Chemmy and their cat Gigantor a Christmas Goose. Funny how that didn't make it into the post. I then proceeded to cough up both lungs and die. Thank God for Miracle Max and his hatred for Prince Humperdink or I wouldn't be here today.

Anyway, I hope that everyone that makes writing this site fun - the commenters, the opposition bloggers, the Barilkosphere colleagues, our friends around the SBN megaverse, and the lurkers - have had a safe and happy Christmas/Kwanzaa/Whatever. Some people have had some travel troubles (dare_, Winkle sorry to hear it!) but at least you made it ok! Let's keep it going through New Year's.

What's on tap for tonight? Well, as terrifying as it must seem to Don Cherry and the entire NHL Alex Ovechkin is getting better and better. I think it's getting more than a little hard to argue that Crosby is better than AO. Hell, Malkin might be better than Crosby. Where does that leave Canada? Never fear. Once Tavares joins the Leafs in June the best player in the world will once again be Canadian.

Oh, and today is Mike Gartner Day in Washington. He's no Wendel but he did score a pretty big goal for the Leafs in 94 which of course I can't find the video of but you know the one. Garpenlov hit the crossbar in overtime in game six and Bob Cole thought the series was over. Mike Gartner then did what he did best and potted the winner on a tight play by the goal-line to keep the run alive for at least one more game.
