Day one of the Phaneuf/Giguere Era began with a 3-0 Toronto Maple Leafs win over the New Jersey Devils. I'll have more to write about this game later on but for now let's just bask in the fact that for one night at least Brian Burke's makeover got the desired result. Jean-Sebastien Giguere picked up the shutout with 29 saves making him only the second goalie in franchise history to whitewash the opposition in their first game. The other guy? Eddie Belfour on October 10, 2002 in a 6-0 win over Pittsburgh.

Fredrick Sjostrom picked up an assist on the game winning goal by Nikolai Kulemin, Phil Kessel potted his third in two games after a great play by Tyler Bozak and Alexei Ponikarovsky before Francois Beauchemin unleashed a bomb from the point to seal the points.

For now, let's hear what you liked about the game!
