So...Detroit is pretty good eh? The Maple Leafs only mustered 4 shots in the third period as one of the Western Conference powerhouses highlighted just how far this team has to go. The defensive coverage was worrisome as breakdowns led to a number of goals. The rest can be chalked up to the learning process for Jussi Rynnas. Hope someone asks Wilson why he was kept in all game. I would wager that it's because Giguere is starting tomorrow and Wilson wanted him fresh despite only having 60 minutes of pre-season play so far.
These two teams meet again tomorrow night and it'll be interesting to see how the Leafs react. Wilson said that it was going to be his opening night roster. Tonight still had a couple of guys on the bubble - Luca Caputi and John Mitchell come to mind - and they did not impress.
