First Period

The ref did not catch Savard at all.

No penalties in the period, Corsi was 17-16 for Montréal, and the score was 1-0 Leafs. Top line very quiet, with the Tavares line and the fourth line in on most of the real action.

Bit misleading because the Leafs blocked a lot and the Habs missed a lot.

Second Period

Jake McCabe took an interference penalty, and this was the pair of results:

Joel Armia took a tripping penalty, and this time an actual system had to be used on the power play and - oh, they scored.

Leafs took a penalty, then the Canadiens almost immediately evened it up.

Max Domi got into it with David Savard – shockingly, he had to get revenge. Refs called it roughing for both of them.

Leafs peppered Montembeault at four-on-four, but he had rediscovered his save everything amulet.

And eventful second period ended with the Leafs leading 4-1.

Montréal has the puck more, but Toronto is doing more with it on the power play.

Not the greatest five-on-five game the Leafs have ever played, but lots of high-danger shooting on special teams.

Third Period

Leafs let the Canadiens have the puck for the first half of the third. They didn't do much with it.

Pontus Holmberg ran into Montembeault during a play and Alex Newhook went for him hard enough to take the only penalty.

Max Domi shot the puck on a rush!

With other guys in range!

Suddenly the Leafs pinned the Canadiens in their end for two minutes, like they remembered how to play with the puck.

Leafs win 4-1.

See you Tuesday for a home game vs Ottawa. Don't expect word on Max Pacioretty before Monday.
