The Toronto Maple Leafs made a successful third period comeback from a 3-1 deficit, sending the game to overtime where they won 4-3 against the Ottawa Senators at the Air Canada Centre on Saturday. Tyler Bozak was really good for the Maple Leafs tonight. He scored his first NHL career hat trick (first of the Maple Leafs season, too) and a total of four points on the evening.

Here is a quick rundown of the game

The first period was blah. Toronto and Ottawa entered the first intermission scoreless and the Sens had a 9-7 edge with shots. Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf laid out Erik Condra, which sparked some retaliation, (watch the Vine below) and Joakim Lindstrom had a penalty shot, but did not convert on the opportunity.

The Sens took a two goal lead in the middle frame with goals from Mark Stone and Curtis Lazar. The Sens had a few opportunities to extend their lead, but had no luck beating James Reimer.

The Leafs cut the Senators lead in half with Bozak scoring his first of the game just four minutes into the third period. Kyle Turris extended Ottawa's lead on the power-play shortly after the Bozak goal.

Toronto was handed a power-play when former Leaf Clarke MacArthur served a minor boarding penalty after hitting Morgan Rielly, and that's where Bozak scored his second goal, cutting the Sens lead in half once again.

With just over a minute left in the third period, Bozak scored the tying goal for the Leafs, giving him his first career hat trick. The goal was initially announced as Phil Kessel's, but later changed to Bozak's.

Bozak's strong third period effort sent the game to overtime, where Eric Brewer scored the game winning goal for Toronto.

Bozak was very close to scoring his fourth of the game (and winner) in overtime, but instead he hit the post and created a scramble in front of Ottawa's net, where Brewer was able to sneak the loose puck past Craig Anderson, giving the Leafs their first win since March 11th.

Although the Leafs' Tank went off course this evening, deep down it was refreshing to watch the team score a few goals and win the game. Especially on Garrett Gamble's special night.
