Nick Robertson in for Pontus Holmberg, otherwise the lineup is unchanged.

First Period

It helps to remember that the Wild are the best defensive team in the NHL so far.

Leafs started out with a lot of puck control, but not a lot of shots. They were very aware of Kirill Kaprizov:

A controversial goal happened, called a goal on the ice:

At first if looked kicked in, textbook no goal, but from the right angle it's clear that John Tavares' stick was the only thing to touch the puck. The review says good goal.

Everyone is disgruntled and writing their briefs to the surpreme court, but meanwhile, that never would have happened without this:

Said it last game, saying it again, this second line is not perfect and they will cause some defensive issues.

Sometimes I wonder when I see things like this, how many people realize these stunts only work because Mitch Marner is on the team.

Score was tied at one after one.

In general the Leafs struggled with puck control at five-on-five, but are very much in the game to win it.

The first power play with lots of shots was bad and an oh-for. The second was good because they scored, even though no shots.

Second Period

Leafs pinned in the Wild for what had to be three full minutes. Multiple changes, right though the lineup. That was the good part, this was the rest of the game:

Leafs had to kill four minutes with a little to carry over into the third.

No goals this period, just a lot of emotions running over.

This is okay offence from the Leafs on a lot fewer shots than the Wild have taken:

Considering the Wild's defensive reputation, this is better than I expected.

Third Period

Leafs with a very flat start to the third, as the Wild were able to keep them from getting any zone time. The Wild are playing like they're sitting on a one-goal lead instead of tied. But then, that's just what their normally tepid offence looks like, I guess.

Leafs continued to be flat, while the Wild got less mild.

The Leafs looked very turtle-ish in the final 10 minutes.

Steven Lorentz with a breakaway the only excitement in blue and white.

Wild started playing for the tie with two minutes left, holding three back on their offensive entries.

Leafless third period.

Loser point secured.

Overtime

Max Domi. That's it that's the recap of OT.

Final score is 2-1 Minnesota.

Next game is Tuesday at home to Boston.
