Zero is the number of times this season the Leafs have entered the 3rd period with a lead and left without a point. None. Nada. Zilch.
If anything still gives me cold sweats about the JFJ era besides him acquiring goalies it's remembering the post-lockout Leafs as a squad who could blow any lead. Up 3-1 with 2 minutes remaining in Carolina? No lead was safe for the Paul Maurice Leafs.
Toronto is 22-0-4 entering the third period with a lead. That's a .923 points percentage in games the Leafs should lock down. It's likely that the team will fall short in their quest to make the playoffs but let's not ignore the massive improvement we've seen from the second youngest team in the NHL.
