The Toronto Maple Leafs announced this afternoon, via their PR account, that the team has assigned seven players to their AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.
The following players have been assigned to the Toronto Marlies (AHL):
— Leafs PR (@LeafsPR) October 5, 2021
F Mikhail Abramov
D Joseph Duszak
D Noel Hoefenmayer
D Teemu Kivihalme
F Jack Kopacka
F Jeremy McKenna
F Nick Robertson
There are no surprises on that list; as with every training camp, the cuts the team really has to think about only come at the very end. By far the most familiar name to Leaf fans is young sniper Nick Robertson, but the sheer number of NHL forwards under contract ahead of him gave him almost no chance of making the team to start the season. He’s also just turned 20, so no rush on that.
The Leafs have a pre-season game against the Montreal Canadiens tonight at 7:00 PM; they wrap up their pre-season on Saturday, against the Ottawa Senators. You can expect more cuts between now and then as the team slims down to its opening night roster. Treasure this chance to see Semyon Der-Arguchintsev.
