2 EV D. Moore N. Antropov A. Ponikarovsky
3 EV P. Kubina

Stempniak's first goal as a Leaf comes on a deflection off his skate into the net. Antropov scores a goal off Biron trying to make a pass out of his crease and completely blowing it. Dominic Moore stuffs a puck home on a breakaway resulting from him leaving the penalty box, and Kubina seals the deal with an absolute laser beam from the point that hit two posts and went in.

The Leafs worked hard tonight and really dug out a win against a surging Flyers club. The penalty kill tonight was excellent. Philly brought the fifth ranked PP in the league, and Toronto absolutely dominated them.

Vesa Toskala was solid again, just like in the Ottawa game, making 28 saves on 30 shots. The second goal was in no way his fault; the play started with Tomas Kaberle turning the puck over on Philly's blue line, and making no strong attempt to get the puck back before Kubina made a soft turnover exiting the defensive zone and the Flyers executed a very precise cross crease pass tap in goal.

The first goal wasn't really his fault either, with Asham taking a shot that Toskala stopped, Asham ran into the goaltender, and Toronto's defenders (Finger and Kubina) didn't stop Richards from coming down into the zone and firing the puck into the net. It probably should have been goaltender interference, but that's how things go sometimes.

A good effort from the Leafs tonight translates to two points on the scoreboard. Brian Burke had to have liked what he saw, because I sure did. Not bad for a rebuilding team.
