Move over, Auston Matthews.
Or... or don’t, because being the NHL’s second star of the week is still a very good thing to be, especially when it’s just your first week in the NHL.
But Matthews isn’t the only member of the Toronto Maple Leafs organization being recognized for his standout play. Kasperi Kapanen is up there with him, too, because he’s been named the AHL player of the week.
The Toronto Marlies are already up there in the standings, with two wins in their first two games. They couldn’t have done it without Kapanen, who has one goal and four assists so far to lead the AHL in scoring early into the 2016-17 season.
He’s actually tied with Brendan Leipsic for the league scoring lead, so that’s more awesome news for the Marlies in general.
Kapanen, 20, recorded 25 points in 44 games for the Marlies in his rookie pro North American season last year. He’s already looking to build on that - and look at him go; the camera can’t even keep up with him.

Here’s to more Marlies getting AHL Player of the Week honours throughout this season - it’s probably gonna happen a lot.
