On Tuesday at Leafs practice, there were three goalies. Garret Sparks and Eamon McAdam (who was the backup in Monday’s game) stayed out for the full practice, but Frederik Andersen only worked out for a limited time.
Reports after they all left the ice tried to clarify his status. Andersen says he has a minor knee injury, and they had never intended for him to stay out for the whole practice. Mike Babcock had said on Monday night after the game that Andersen would definitely start on Thursday against the Penguins.
With no practice today, that’s where things stand heading into tomorrow’s game.
The Marlies were on the ice today in practice, and there is no good news about Kasimir Kaskisuo.
Keefe on the #Marlies adding another goaltender: “We’ll make a move to have somebody here. Of course the situation with the Maple Leafs as it currently is with Eamon McAdam, we’re kind of sitting on that. Then the #Leafs and us will both make a move.”

The Marlies play next on Friday in Rochester, so McAdam would need to be free to travel with them. If he’s needed to backup for the Leafs, he might not be free to travel with the Marlies.
The Newfoundland Growlers solved their end of the goalie shortage with a contract to Mario Culina.

In the ECHL, usually a tryout agreement is used for a temporary goalie that is more than an EBUG but less than a new roster player. This looks like a longer-term signing.
As Sheldon Keefe said today, the Leafs and the Marlies may need to make a move to fill the ranks of the goaltenders. At the moment the Marlies only have 32-year-old Jeff Glass, who made 28 AHL and 15 NHL starts last year.
Calvin Pickard came on in relief of Brian Elliott last night for his second win for the Flyers. Curtis McElhinney has started three times in Carolina. Neither of those players will be hitting the waiver wire anytime soon.
Stay tuned for some kind of signing or trade to fill this void.
One move is that McAdam has been loaned to the Marlies:
The @MapleLeafs announced today that the club has loaned goaltender Eamon McAdam to the @TorontoMarlies (AHL).

Beyond that, we’ll wait and see.
