Saturday, June 9: The ECHL final Game 7 decides the Kelly Cup winner. Florida meets Colorado in a clash of the best team in the ECHL the last few years and a franchise about to move to the AHL. The AHL final Game 5 is on TSN 2, TSN Go, Leafs Nation Network and NHL network at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. The Marlies and the Stars are tied up at two wins apiece.
Tuesday, June 12: The AHL final Game 6 is in Toronto at 7 p.m., same television carriers.
Thursday, June 14: The AHL final Game 7, if necessary, in Toronto at 7 p.m.
Friday, June 15: The first buyout window opens in the NHL. Watch for players to be placed on unconditional waivers in the days leading up to this date. The window closes on June 30. This is also the deadline for clubs to elect salary arbitration for their RFAs who are eligible.
Wednesday, June 20: The NHL Board of Governors meets in Las Vegas, and the NHL Awards are held this evening, also in Las Vegas.
Friday, June 22: Day one of the Entry Draft in Dallas. This is for the 31 first round picks, and coverage begins at 7 p.m. Eastern Time on Sportsnet, actual start time of the draft is 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, June 23: Day two of the Entry Draft. Rounds two through seven are chosen, with Sportsnet going to air at 11 a.m., which is the listed start time.
Tuesday, June 26: Qualifying offers are due for RFAs.
Wednesday, June 27: Discussion period begins for UFAs.
Watch for the Leafs, and other teams, to have a prospect camp shortly after the draft. They often invite junior or college free agents to this event. They’ll likely have a second camp later in the summer.
The schedules for next season will come out soon, as well, along with news of special dates for all the special games Chicago is in.
The salary cap upper and lower limits will be announced before the end of the month as well, so teams know how much they can spend in a frenzy on July 1.
