Today's Noon Numbers takes a look at the Reign of Error of John S. Ferguson (Not Junior!). Steve Lansky thinks that Leafs RAUP should show JFJ a little bit of gratitude:

There is no disputing that, before he left the Toronto Maple Leafs as their general manager, John S. Ferguson was widely vilified in the Leafs Nation. Maybe he deserved that send off. Maybe he didn’t. But, as the Leafs gear up for the final 16 games of the regular season – five points in arrears of eighth in the East – it’s worth remembering some of the better things Ferguson did for the Leafs.

Then again, it's only expected that he'd find something of value considering the amount of coal he sifted. In 2009 I wrote (picture LeBron here) not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, but seven posts about players that he signed or acquired in Toronto that were no longer with the club. Hell, four of them focused just on players no longer in the NHL at the time of writing. It is incredible how poorly he did with his free agent signings. However, on January 1, 2008 Ferguson made his final signing: a player out of the CIS powerhouse University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds and a photoshop legend.

But yes, JFJ did leave the Maple Leafs with some gems:
