Today, the AHL announced their First and Second All-Star Teams. Toronto Marlies forward Jeremy Bracco is the RW for the First All-Star team, and Chris Mueller is the centre on the Second All-Star team.
Mueller may well have edged out former Marlie Carter Verhaeghe for the first team centre spot, if he hadn’t missed some time to injury. Verhaeghe has had an excellent year on the Syracuse Crunch, however.
Bracco is currently first in the AHL in points with 78, Verhaeghe is second with 77. Mueller beats them both on points per game, with 1.10 right now to Bracco’s 1.07 and Verhaeghe’s 1.05.
The Marlies have two more games to play, both at home, and then they begin the defence of their championship playoff performance. They are third in the North Division, and will play either the Rochester Americans or the Syracuse Crunch in the first round, depending on how their final games play out. One point currently separates the two teams who each have three games left.
The Marlies season wraps up this weekend with games on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
