The rosters for Finland and Sweden have been announced for the 4 Nations Face-Off. (That's the official name because sticking in a hyphen and a number makes for a name everyone will use correctly.) They can't call it the World Cup for obvious reasons that might have stopped some people from even doing this, but not the NHL.

What is it?

It's a tournament run by the NHL in February from the 15th to the 20th. Half the games are in Montréal and half in Boston, so the entire tournament is actually bad if you think about it.

Note that this is not an IIHF national team competition, so the rules will be NHL rules. Four teams compete: Canada, USA, Finland, Sweden.

Who is on the teams?

To try to build up hype and to create an industry of projected rosters, the teams released six players each earlier in the autumn. Now the final rosters are being revealed.

All that really matters is Leafs, though.

Auston Matthews and William Nylander were both part of the initial announcement. Mitch Marner is expected to be named to Team Canada later today, but not Morgan Rielly or John Tavares (they get some kid time, and I'm happy for them).

Anyone could make a case for Anthony Stolarz for Team USA, but it seems likely that after the blindingly obvious Connor Hellebuyck, the expected names are Jake Oettinger and Jeremy Swayman. Contract over current results, it's the NHL way. Stollie the best goalie also gets some time off to sit on the couch and watch golf.

For the European teams, they both have Leafs, but will Jani Hakanpää actually play? (Apologies for the wrong spellings below, I copied them from NHL.com.)
