James Reimer is awesome, and now, he's getting league-wide recognition for it.
Reimer, alongside Matt Duchene and Mats Zuccarello, was named one of the NHL's stars of the week. While the two forwards earned their honours by scoring or setting up lots of goals, Reimer got his by doing the opposite: stopping them.
All in all, Reimer saw 105 shots over the past week, and stopped all but five of them for a .952 save percentage. Try as the Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators, and Vancouver Canucks did, they simply couldn't solve the NHL's top goalie of the week, who led the Maple Leafs to three straight victories.
Is Optimus Reim officially back? He's now up to a .925 save percentage for the season after some less-than-stellar games, and seems to have firm hold of the starter's reins now. If he can keep up his performance from last week - which will, admittedly, be difficult (those are some pretty intense percentages) - then there may be hope yet.
