In his first game back from a two-week AHL conditioning stint that saw him get three shutouts in four games, Jonathan Bernier... gave up five goals on 27 shots for a less-than-impressive .815 save percentage, including the game winner to Vladislav Namestnikov two minutes into overtime.
He also picked up his 10th lost of the season. Over 10 starts. Which is, obviously, not desirable.
So, to put it simply, things still aren't good in Bernier Land.
Things are great in Garret Sparks land, however, as Mike Babcock has already slated him to take the net against the San Jose Sharks tomorrow.
Sparks has played four games so far this season, posting a .921 save percentage, three wins, and one shutout. At the moment, he simply looks like the better option in net. And he's also only 22, so he's probably the better option for the long-term, too, as the Maple Leafs continue to build their roster.
And, as a bonus, the third episode of The Leaf: Blueprint is going to feature him! Get hype.
