The Toronto Maple Leafs are on a five game losing streak against the Florida Panthers in Florida. They've actually lost seven of their last eight visits and most of them haven't been pretty from a defensive standpoint. The Panthers may have been a bad team for the past few seasons (I know, 'but the made the playoffs!') but they've had a worse team's number. The Leafs' chances will depend on getting continued strong goaltending from Ben Scrivens
Five Questions
- Will the Leafs allow fewer than five goals tonight? They allowed exactly five in all four losses to the Panthers last year.
- Will the Leafs' powerplay shooting percentage start ticking upwards? They Leafs are bottom of the barrel in PP% but middle of the pack in generating shots (as unlikely as that sounds) so will this game be the start of the two stats converging.
- Will Colton Orr remain on Nazem Kadri's wing? I love Orr's effort but he was a black hole on that line and it does an absolute disservice to two of the better Leafs at generating shots and chances
- Can the Leafs' penalty kill remain above 80%? It's still only 20th but it's been doing well recently. At least, it's less of a handicap.
- Will one of the Leafs' better offensive players start getting some breaks? Grabbo and Kessel could both use a few breaks if only to quiet the chattering classes a bit.
