Joking aside I wish McCabe the best in Florida. He's been recently demonized by a lot of fans and the media in Toronto, and been used as a scapegoat for the Leafs problems that have been a long time coming.
The good news is, it looks like Fletcher has convinced MLSE that the only way to win in a salary cap era is with good drafting and smart team building, so hopefully he can execute that plan.
This morning's hot potatos:
- koopa kid thinks Toronto fleeced Florida in the Belak trade. Maybe he forgot that Belak was drafted eighth overall. (oof)
- Steve lays down the Hammer of Logic (R) (TM) (Patent pending) on Damien Cox by refuting the claim that the Leafs won't get 30 wins. On an important side note: I hope Cox is right, Tavares here we come!
- jaredoflondon's blog holds mystical powers, also if your hand is bigger than your face you may be related to Jason Blake have cancer.
- Carlo Colaiacovo was considering changing his last name to Ocho Cinco, but find out what he actually changed it to over at The Wonderful World of Loser Domi.
- wraparoundcurl shows that NHL players are as lumpy and strange looking as the rest of us.
- MF37 makes some good points about the Leafs' asset management. I wish that there was a statistic like VORP or Win Shares for hockey because I feel like it would show that despite McCabe scoring so much he was costing the team more than he was worth.
- Check out the second comment on TSM's latest post. Pure, unadulterated, Cox-brilliance.
