The Walter Cup was awarded for the first time last night to Minnesota after they beat Boston 3-0. Pretty satisfying for Minnesota to get a real celebration of winning this time after the overturned winning goal in the last game.
The PWHL draft is June 10, and we have confirmation that team names will be introduced in August.
At the Memorial Cup:
The London Knights beat the Saginaw Spirit last night with two goals late in the game by none other than our own Easton Cowan. The win puts the Knights in the Memorial Cup final on Sunday. They will face the winner of the semifinal game between Saginaw and Moose Jaw to be played on Friday.
And the dagger to seal the win.
Our cowboy is growing up fast. He even said a swear on TV!
The Oilers made a comeback after the Stars scored twice early in the first period to win 5-2, so that series will continue on now at least through Sunday. Tonight it's back to the Rangers and Panthers with their series tied 2-2.
The Vancouver Province posted a story saying outgoing Canucks assistant coach Mike Yeo was returning "closer to home". Yeo, from Toronto, was then rumoured to be a new Leafs hire based on that and the fact he was Craig Berube's boss in St. Louis before he was fired to give Berube the head coach job.
Ah, whoops.
Hockey season is rapidly coming to a close! Enjoy your Thursday.
