Good morning Toronto Maple Leafs fans!
The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline is tomorrow afternoon at 3:00PM, and teams didn't want to wait until then, and a flurry of activity happened yesterday. Except in Toronto, but you just wait. Ol' Bradley Pizza has something up his sleeve.
Let's skip the blah blah and hit the links.
Late Tuesday night the Vegas Golden Knights added Anthony Mantha from Washington to the team for a 2nd and 4th round pick.
The Ottawa Senators did what we all expected and traded Vladimir Tarasenko, to division rival Florida Panthers. All for a conditional 4th and a 3rd.
Ottawa retains 50% of his salary, and the 4th becomes a 3rd if the Panthers win the cup. And that Senators blog ends the story with a line about the Leafs, because of course.
The Colorado Avalanche made two deals, the first was with the Philadelphia Flyers, bringing in defender Sean Walker and a 5th round pick and sending out Ryan Johansen and a 1st round pick.
The oddest part? The Flyers put Johansen on waivers right away.
The other Avalanche deal was a straight up hockey trade with Bowen Byram leaving Colorado and heading to Buffalo for Casey Mittelstadt.
The Edmonton Oilers made a big deal, making a three way deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Anaheim Ducks.
Oilers Get: Adam Henrique, Sam Carrick, prospect Ty Taylor, and a 7th round pick
Ducks Get: Edmonton's 1st and 5th, 50% of Henriques salary
Lightning Get: Edmonton's 4th, 25% of Henrique's salary
I don't like the Oilers getting better, but at least they continue their tradition of collecting old Leafs players.
Finally, the New York Rangers brought in Alex Wennberg from Seattle for a 2nd and 4th round pick.
What will happen today?
In non-trade news, the Leafs won!
Sarah Nurse lets the opponents know she's fine with getting a penalty.
Easton Cowan is unstoppable.
Hockey players will always find a way.
The University of New Brunswick hockey programs are finally giving people a reason to go to New Brunswick.
Finally, let's stew on a rumor.
Enjoy the trades everyone!
