The Marlies added a familiar name to the roster on the weekend, giving us another Nylander in town. It's interesting that he signed only an AHL contract, though that can be upgraded in theory.
The good news for Marlies fans is this is a sign the Marlies are going to be in it to win it this season after two seasons in a row with disappointing early endings.
Alex has of course already had success against Toronto. Let's hope he can now have success for Toronto.
The captain of the Growlers said goodbye to Newfoundland yesterday. I'm not sure if he means he is retiring from the game or not, but we know that unfortunately the Growlers are not coming back and it's unlikely St. John's will have any professional hockey team for at least the next few years.
You know you want to watch an Auston Matthews goal supercut. Which goal is your favourite? There's so many good ones, but the one that starts at 6:44 against the Islanders is hilarious as they are in the process of talking about how great Pierre Engvall is when Noah Dobson gets the puck stripped from him and it drifts to Matthews who puts it right in the net. Runner up at 8:00 minutes in the video, when Matthews gets goal #40 against the Jets on a 5-on-3 and it's one of those ones where you simply know it's going in and there's nothing they can do to stop him, and he also does the Matthews Celly right to a Leafs fan sitting in the front row there at the arena in Winnipeg.
Now all the Leafs need to do to make me happy is sign JvR too.
