Friday FTB: movers and shakers

PWHL Boston and Minnesota play Game 3 of their five-game series tonight at 7pm ET. The series is tied at 1-1, and tonight's winner gets the opportunity to win the inaugural Walter Cup on Sunday in Minnesota. Boston hosted the first two games, and gets Game 5 as the higher seed, if it gets that far.

Edmonton and Dallas – aka oil industry north vs south – were tied 2-2 in double overtime when McDavid scored and won game 1 for the Oilers.

Panthers and Rangers play tonight in the East. Panthers have a 1-0 lead in the series.

The Devils officially announced their hiring of Sheldon Keefe, who was not unemployed for long. And per LeBrun, the Devils replaced the two-year extension with the Leafs and gave him a four-year contract instead.

Of note with NJ making the Sheldon Keefe hire official, the Leafs are 100 percent off the hook financially. Keefe's 2-year extension with the Leafs was ripped up as part of the Devils giving him a fresh, 4-year deal which pays more. Leafs won't owe anything as part of it all.

Lots of LeBrun today, he also reported other teams are talking to Don Waddell.

There’s word tonight that Don Waddell has permission from the Hurricanes to speak to other teams. His contract with Carolina is expiring.
The Hurricanes are believed to have already had conversations about a new GM because they expect his eventual departure.
