Fraser is making progress on his high ankle sprain that has kept him from training camp and potentially being the Leafs 3C to start the year.

Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten returns to ice with development staff
After suffering an injury prior to training camp, Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten finally returned to the ice.

Head coach Craig Berube has a lot of players to manage ice time for, even with several on IR. It's not personal when a player gets scratched, but at some point the hard decisions will need to be made once players like Minten and Järnkrok and others get back. It's not a bad thing to be tinkering, but at some point that tinkering will run up against the cap. We'll see what he and Treliving decide at that point.

Why the Maple Leafs healthy-scratched Max Pacioretty
There is a message being sent to all Leafs on the fringes: “Fine,” as Craig Berube puts it, no longer guarantees a regular shift in this town as Max Pacioretty has found out.

Barys Astana in Kazakhstan have terminated the contracts of all their import players yesterday. The team is in last place in the KHL and just fired both their head coach and general manager. We'll see what happens, but there are many possible ways this goes. Maybe management want the comradery of only local players to spur them on to victories, or maybe they're leaving the KHL. We'll see where this goes. One thing we do know is Michael McLeod is not coming to North America as he's banned from the NHL while under investigation by the authorities.
