Here we go, the final game of the pre-season. Once this is wrapped we won't be seeing the Leafs on the ice until Wednesday night to open the season against the Canadiens.
Last night the Red Wings beat the Maple Leafs 4-2 and it was the Leafs fourth straight pre-season loss after starting it with three straight wins. Tonight we should be seeing the most likely final line up. Connor Brown and William Nylander will be scratched again. Are their spots guaranteed in the line up already? Are the Leafs having others continue to try out? Or are those two Marlies for sure and they are just being given the chance to practice with the big club a few more times before going down to the Ricoh? Okay after I wrote this Jonas Siegel from TSN asked Babcock (I tried but apparently MLSE reception doesn't answer phones on the weekend) and he said "I want to look at the other guys.We better know what we have before we get in a hurry to do something and then we find out later it was wrong." So they're making the Leafs or........?

What can one more pre-season game give us to learn? Well, not a heck of a lot, the pre-season is already ripe with small sample sizes and what can we really learn from one game?
Nothing, we can only be disappointed. Now, I'm not saying don't watch this game. I"m not saying don't read anything into it. All I"m saying is don't watch this game and don't read anything into it.
