Happy Draft Day Two, everyone. Today's action starts airing at 11:30 eastern time.
To catch up on yesterday:
We'll have a post today on who to watch out for while the Leafs use their newly acquired second rounder. And also a more extensive post on first-round pick Ben Danford.
Today the Leafs pick at:
- 58th overall, a pick originally belonging to Boston, it was used to get Hampus Lindholm. Toronto traded the 23rd overall for the 31st and this pick.
- 120th overall in the fourth round, their original pick.
- 151st in the fifth round, a pick originally belonging to the Predators, they used it to get Anthony Beauvillier from Chicago who traded it to Toronto as part of the Sam Lafferty and Jake McCabe deal.
- 152nd overall, Toronto's original pick.
- 157th overall, a pick they got trading Sam Lafferty to Vancouver.
- 200th overall, the pick received for taking Matt Murray.
- 216th overall, Toronto's original sixth rounder.
What does this mean for time? Toronto picks nine players from the end of the draft, so if you want to follow it to the end, you're looking at about six hours. The second rounder is the 26th pick taken today, so that's sometime after noon and before one pm by my best guess. You can skip the sixth round, though!
To follow the picks, both CapFriendly and Puckpedia have draft lists quickly updated, so you can look them up. So do Sportsnet, the NHL and Elite Prospects, along with likely a dozen other places.
We'll have articles up on every pick. Just don't expect miraculous amounts of intel on the late round picks.
Happy draft day! If we get any big trade news or rumours it will go here, and if you want to argue about pizza toppings or whatever, go ahead. It will be a long day.
