Phaneuf No Longer Power Play Weapon - Eat. Sleep. Leafs.

Phaneuf’s slumping goal totals have drawn the attention—he has only one this season—but it’s his ineffectiveness manning the point on the powerplay that has directly resulted in his spiraling offensive numbers. When he scored 20 as a rookie in 2005-2006 for example, all but four came on the powerplay.

Yeah, that's a whole lot of suck but mf37 is trying to work some reverse mojo for Double Dion.

In the 22 games prior to that post, Armstrong had 3G 2A and was having a miserable season by any (and every) measure. In the six games since I wrote that post, Armstrong has 2G 4A, has chipped in with a shootout goal and played some pretty good hockey. (I've jokingly been referring to this turnaround as being "Armstronged" - when an observable trend or pattern reverses the moment I remark on it).

The Next 5 Games Will be a Major Test for the Leafs

Seeing as how the last time they won 4 straight they then lost 10 of their next 11, yeah, I'll agree with that.

Giguere, Kiprusoff struggling to stay relevant.

Mirtle with a piece on the changing of the guard in goal.
