If you haven't heard, the Canadian Hockey League is the subject of a lawsuit from former players who say they are owed backpay from their time in the league; looking for hourly wages versus the weekly stipend and education packages they were given as players.

What we learned yesterday was what it costs to get a player who is signed to a CHL contract loaned to an NHL team.
For the Toronto Maple Leafs to play Mitch Marner this season, they paid the London Knights $60,000. After keeping him past January 1st, they paid London another $12,000. If the Maple Leafs make the playoffs there would be another unspecified payment based on the length of their run.
$72,000 is a drop in the ocean to MLSE, and I think he's been worth every penny spent.
