In full Lou Lamoriello fashion, the Toronto Maples Leafs new General Mangaer, Kyle Dubas, did not disclose any details about the contracts signed by four new Leafs beyond what anyone could work out for themselves as the mandated length of each ELC.

Cap Friendly has now revealed the first of the four:

The contract structure is the standard two-way ELC at the maximum allowed amount, with the maximum allowed amount in AHL salary. There is a maximum signing bonus of $92,500 and maximum Schedule A Bonuses of $850,000.  Because of Ozhiganov’s age, the term is for one-year.

Ozhiganov will begin his NHL career waivers exempt, but will lose that exemption after playing one season in either the NHL or the AHL. There is no NHL games-played limit that would cause his waiver exemption to run out sooner as there was with Andreas Borgman. Borgman has 22 NHL games played remaining on his exemption.

Ozhiganov will be an RFA at the conclusion of his contract without arbitration rights.

The amount of this contract is the same as those given to Borgman, Miro Aaltonen and Calle Rosen last season.

The performance bonuses can become relevant if the Leafs operate within LTIR room next season since, in that situation, players called up who will use the LTIR pool drain the pool by their cap hit and their bonus amount. This makes all of these players more expensive callups than players with the same base salary and no performance bonuses.

If the players then earn those bonuses, in whole or in part, they will roll over and count against the following season’s cap ceiling. Again, assuming the Leafs are operating at the upper limit and using their LTIR pool.

We should expect Par Lindholm to have a similar deal, however he is a UFA at the end of one year. Pierre Engvall and Jesper Lindgren are more likely to get deals without bonuses, more like Carl Grundstrom’s contract.
