Really deflated right now. Leafs outshoot Montreal 46 - 27 and lose 4-3. Beauchemin and Schenn looked bad on the first goal for Montreal, a power play tally early on in a double minor awarded to Komisarek for high sticking Gomez, but Beauchemin picked his play up considerably afterwards.

The real story of the night is that the PK is still atrocious, and Mike Komisarek took a ton of penalties for shoving players around the net that offset Montreal running Toskala all night.

None of the goals on Toskala were particularly horrible, the first one wasn't his fault at all; he got hung out to dry. The second goal he collapsed into the net while the puck was behind the net and never came out to square up. The third goal was a deflection that hit him in his glove, and on the fourth goal Toskala let a soft puck hit him and he pushed it out into the slot for Gorges to end the game. Not his worst game, but hardly a big statement after a quiet preseason. Toskala ends the night with an 0.851 SV% (compared to Price's .935) and a Leafs OT loss.

There are other things to cover, notably the Leafs being outhit tonight, but I'm pretty depressed by this result. Toronto starts the season 0-0-1 and will go to Washington to play the Caps next. Washington beat Boston 4-1 tonight.
