There was some confusion yesterday over the exact Bill Watters quote about Cody Franson being a "3rd of July parade guy". Here's the audio from that, unedited, for you to make up your own mind:
Meanwhile a number of commenters on the site emailed AM640's director of programming Gord Harris for an explanation of Watters' comments and they all received the same email. Follow us over the jump to read it.

To:Mr.,
Thank you for contacting me and expressing your concern about something you heard (or heard or read about) on AM640.
Bill Watters tried to clarify his remark with the phrase "he likes to enjoy the good life" – meaning he likes to have a good time or, in popular vernacular, "to party".
While some may have interpreted his words to be a reference to sexual orientation or stereotype, that was not the intent.
It was perhaps, an unfortunate reference to ‘celebration’, and we regret the fact some have read more meaning into it than there was.
Sincerely,
Gord

I don't think anyone was concerned with Mr. Watters' assertion that Cody Franson "likes to live the good life" being a veiled reference to him partying too much. This response makes no light of the, uh, "alleged" slur Mr. Watters used on air and as we said yesterday: the silence is getting pretty loud.
