Idle Hands: Carey Price
So you guys have once again come through with the goods with our Hockey Reference sponsorships. All of the spots have been renewed and a couple more have been added. Now it's time to decide what we want each caption to say. We have 255 characters (including spaces)

Something's Rotten In PPP Almagamated Heavy Industries
In 1605 one poor delusional Briton thought that he was going to strike a blow for his political by blowing up Parliament. More than 400 years later a distant relative (they're all related on that island right?) once again tried to create an uprising against a growing empire.
A Call To Arms
Well, it's also a call to alms. This may be new to some of you that were not around last May during the playoffs. Just over a year ago SBN Hockey Megaverse Overlord James Mirtle alerted hockey fans throughout the web that a new statistics site had launched.
Some Musings on the Toronto Marlies
Editor's Note: So the Marlies have been officially eliminated from the playoffs. I meant to write a recap after the game but life happened. Anyway, here's my experience at the game and some thoughts on the torrent of complaints that have been fired at the Marlies,

The '08-'09 Habs train wreck was cleared from the tracks at 9:33 PM ET. The conductor Bob Gainey and 9 passengers are the only known survivors at this time.

Bandwagoning Open Thread April 21
It's a hell of a busy night tonight but I'll miss it all because I'll be at the Marlies game researching whether Pogge is actually the franchise's future. After the jump there are links to every game's page so poke
The Games I Watched - April 20
I didn't get to see much of our adopted Eastern Conference team but from what I've read it looks pretty much like what I expected. Once the Capitals were able to solve Lundqvist their domination of the series continued. The best part of the game was
The Games I Watched - April 19
It was a mixed bag yesterday as one good team won and two others lost. The Canucks are far too well drilled in their defence-first system for the Blues right now. I don't think I can remember watching a team that was so efficient in getting the puck

The Game I Watched - April 18
Yesterday was a bit of a mixed bag. I actually forgot that game 2 in the Blue Jackets-Wings series was going at 6pm. Apparently, the Blue Jackets forgot as well. They are just so ridiculously overmatched and they look like the Thrashers when they made their only playoff appearance. At

8pm EDT
Obviously, we should all laugh at the Habs' 8pm start. They'll likely whine and whine about how this would never happen on a Saturday night if it involved the Maple Leafs. You know what? They're right! HAHAHAHA
What I Watched April 17
I missed most of the early hockey because I was out playing (two years can make you forget how hard it is to play) some pick-up but we finished just in time to catch the third period of the Flyers-Penguins' series. The Flyers played a much better game but
The Games I Watched - April 16
Obviously, as a Leafs fan, I have a healthy amount of animosity for the Montreal franchise. It doesn't help that they choose to employ a bunch of gutless pukes. I hate the Red Wings but at least their players aren't dirty SOBs. The saddest part is
C.Hunt vs. Cox
One question I get asked a lot (not from anyone that reads the Barilkosphere) is why I don't like Damien Cox. This is yet another great example of why he grates on Leaf fans and probably on any other fans that have any understanding of hockey.
I guess
The Games I Watched
God I love the playoffs! Imagine if the Leafs were involved. It would probably look something like the St. Louis Game Time game thread but bigger. Tugboats and arson came along on the field trip and it was a good time. Did you know that they have some former Maple

SBN Playoff Hub
Good news! SB Nation has once again developed a hub so that you can follow all of the stories from across the megaverse.
How do you get something on the hub?

* Must be submitted for distribution with
NY Islanders Win The NHL Draft Lottery, Leafs Will Select 7th Overall
So there is no change. A season's worth of tanking has paid off for the New York Islanders as they will select the Maple Leafs. Thankfully, no one jumped over the Leafs either.
Post your reaction in the comments!
NHL Draft Lottery Open Thread
Alright sports fans. First, the bad news for me (good for Leaf fans): Liverpool did not use up all of my sporting luck today as they crashed out of the Champions League to the Chelsea Diving Team. That means that all of the luck has been saved up for tonight&
Handing Out Some Hardware
Last week James Mirtle asked all of the SBN Hockey bloggers to suggest their team's nominees for the major individual trophies and when James says jump other bloggers say how high. Apparently we dicked around for a while but in the end we joined the group. You can
Today is NHL Draft Lottery Day!
Tonight could have been a much more dramatic night if the Leafs had lost to the senators but that ship has sailed. While we're focused on the chance of the Leafs moving up to the 3rd overall pick keep in mind that there is also a 9.5%
An Observation
Rule number one of writing: consider your audience. You have to have some sort of expectation of the knowledge that your reader will possess. For example, I assume that if you are coming to a Leafs' blog that you likely already read the four Toronto dailies, TSN.ca, watch
SBN's NHL Playoffs Coverage
This post serves as a testament to the hard work of James Mirtle since he has taken the reins of the hockey sites in the SBN megaverse. When he came on board early this season I think there were 5 sites up and running and two more in development. Last
All That's Left Is The Crying
It was a limp, spiritless moment, and rather sad.
For reasons of their own, those hardy souls left in a half-empty ACC when the buzzer ended last night's game between the Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators chose to shower a modicum of warm applause on the home team
