And the Winner of NHL 11 Is...
I'd like to pause from announcing the winner for a minute to point out how truly disappointed I am in all of you. Not only did Jeffler predict victory and lose in the first round in true Alfredsson spirit but you all let our free copy of NHL
We're Tired
I'm guessing today was Dr. SkinnyFish M.D.'s day to FTB. Unfortunately for all of you we were stuck in traffic for ever last night and dragged ass into our apartment around 2a.m. before passing out. I don't have many Leafs blogs in

The Toronto Sun: Classy
For those of you who don't know Elie Aintabi he's a Habs fan that PPP and I jaw at on Twitter a lot. Aside from his obvious handicap he's a solid guy who was nice enough to forward me an email exchange between himself
Tomas Kaberle: Master of His Own Destiny
Last night Brian Burke let Tomas Kaberle's no trade clause window expire; giving the defender the right to choose his own destiny from now until he hits unrestricted free agency on July 1st, 2011.
Tomas is an elite offensive defenseman who is probably as large a victim of

Mount Puckmore
I'm sure most of you are aware of Puck Daddy's "Mount Puckmore" series where people decide on the four faces of a franchise that should be engraved on a mountain. PPP and I have been asked to do this for the Leafs and we&
PPP Biggest Loser
The time has come. After careful consideration we've decided not to have paid entry so you big boned types will have to compete solely on the honor system unless there are secret prizes handed out at the end of the contest (there will definitely be prizes). Want to
MLHS Asks: Why Not Frolov?
Michael Cuttell over at Maple Leafs Hot Stove had this to say about Frolov signing with the Rangers:
However, to a team in the Leafs’ position, he’s useless. As we established from the beginning, the Leafs are not realistic contenders for the Cup this year. When they finally are

While PPP is on vacation we decided to replace him on the podcast with someone much smarter: mc79 of mc79hockey.com. He's a lawyer and gave us his interpretation of the upcoming string of litigation surrounding the Kovalchuk contract.

Colby Armstrong Will Now Be Referred to as "Jim Thome"
The Maple Leafs have confirmed that @armdog is Colby Armstrong's official Twitter account. His last tweet is about how excited he is to be in Toronto but the two before that remind me an awful lot of someone:

TSN's Free Agent Rankings
TSN has put up an article about the "best of the rest" ie. remaining UFAs. I really hope "TSN Staff" means this was written by interns.

Theodore was 30-7-7 with a 2.81 GAA last season - extraordinarily strong numbers - but the

No FTB today because we're sipping drinks by the pool. Post links in the comments and discuss them or go outside and drink a six pack in the sun; nothing's happening anyways.

Introducing PPP Biggest Loser
Hanging out in the Chatty Cathy today a bunch of commenters on this fair site were discussing starting diets. I suggested we do a riff on The Biggest Loser, an American TV show which per Wikipedia:

Leafs Sign Nikolai Kulemin
The waiting is over. Per TSN's Darren Dreger the Leafs have signed Nikolai Kulemin to a two year deal at $2.35M per.
This is an excellent job by Burke balancing Kulemin's desire to prove his increased worth to the team on par with the Gustavsson
Maple Leafs sign Colby Armstrong
The Leafs have signed Colby Armstrong to a three year deal at $3M per. Armstrong is a very Brian Burke player which is why none of us are surprised he's here.
Last season Armstrong scored 15 goals and added 14 assists for Atlanta to go along with a
Leafs Acquire Kris Versteeg
Brian Burke has added a top six forward. Versteeg is a 20 goal guy who will look good wearing the blue and white. I know a lot of people here like Viktor Stalberg but Stalberg is actually older than Versteeg. I'll be sad to see Chris DiDomenico leave
Savard and Kovalchuk: The Agony and the Ecstasy
Probably time to address the whole Marc Savard rumors. This all started about one June 23rd when I saw CSNNE reporter Joe Haggarty talking about Savard being on the trading block. At the time I replied to him:
Savard signed a huge hometown discount to stay in Boston. He has
2010 NHL Entry Draft Recap
Will these kids be heroes or footnotes? There's something interesting about watching the draft long after many turn their attention elsewhere: someday that kid no one knows anything about might score a series winning goal despite the long odds of him ever even suiting up to play in
Toronto Maple Leafs Draft Sam Carrick 144th Overall
Here's video of Sam Carrick mixing it up with Leafs prospect Jesse Blacker. He likes to drop the gloves and even has his own HockeyFights.com page.
