Michael Bunting of the Maple Leafs will have a hearing today with the Department of Player Safety for his hit to the head on Erik Cernak of the Lightning in game one of the playoffs.

Are you ready for Canada vs USA?

Last offseason was the summer of the Leafs goalie. Up front, the Leafs got obvious fit Zach Aston-Reese. They tried a couple of others who didn't work out and they rolled to the trade deadline with mostly last year's team, as expected. It was the goalie moves that mattered for the regular season.

The NHL regular season is over and the playoff matches are set. Before we get to that, though, the Women's World Championship finishes this weekend.

Just because the Leafs season is over, doesn't mean all the rules governing player movement are suspended. There's more to the CBA than the salary cap.

The Rangers are icing their usual lineup, while the Leafs are resting a few players.

Happy, Thursday, everyone, today is game 82 of one of the most interesting seasons the Maple Leafs have ever played.

That somewhat loopy game against the Lightning whetted the appetite for real hockey. Maybe not with Conor Timmins playing as a forward and the ATO du jour as a backup. But a series that does leave you asking: wait, are we blue in this one?

Is the NHL picking on the Leafs, out to get the Leafs? No, actually, it's because the Leafs said, "Look over here, pay no attention to the hand behind my back," and the league said, "What's that behind your back?"

There's more to the Maple Leafs depth than Matt Knies. He's taken up all the oxygen in prospect discussion, and rightly so now that he's actually on the team. With his future plans settled, we can turn our attention to the rest of the prospects.

Today the Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Matthew Knies to a three-year ELC. Knies, now 20 years old, was drafted in 2021 57th overall. He has been playing in the NCAA for two years after several in the USHL. He is listed at 6'3" and 209 lbs, and plays left wing.

There are three games on tonight of interest to us. The Leafs minus a few regulars vs the Habs youthful new roster is going to be a typical late-season NHL game.

Happy Saturday, everyone. Today is April 8, one week from when the formal transfer of ownership of PPP took place. As anyone who was around yesterday knows, the domain transfer began on Friday morning.

No team is great all the time, and the Bruins have had some less than perfect games in March as they roll up the best regular season, maybe ever. But they aren't going to invite the Leafs over and not put on a show, so this will be a serious game.

How, when, where, why you want to watch the NCAA championships. Matt Knies and Mike Koster are going to Tampa, and you can watch them play. The NCAA Frozen four semis are on April 6, 2023. The first game (the important one) features Minnesota vs Boston University.

Grant Cruikshank was a teammate this season of Leafs drafted prospect Veeti Miettinen. Cruikshank was second on his team in points, two ahead of Miettinen, but he is a goal-scoring centre (in the NCAA) to Miettinen's assist game.

You remember the talk during training camp: the Leafs were so cap-strapped, they'd struggle to put a full team on the ice. Injuries, one after the other, and the status of Jake Muzzin solved that problem.
