The Stanley Cup Final begins tonight with Game 1 between the Stars and Lightning at 7:30 p.m. ET, but that’s not the only game in town. There’s another drama worthy at least of its own streaming TV-series and it’s unfolding around Alex Pietrangelo and where he will play next season.

St. Louis has told Alex Pietrangelo to seek free agency: reports
All it ever takes is the slimmest of chances a big free agent could sign with the Maple Leafs to get the whole Toronto hockey media machine going, and that was handed to them this week on a silver platter with rumours that he is not happy with the offers made to him by the Blues. Throw in the fact that a trade of one of Toronto’s big names would probably be required to fit him on the team, and you have the makings of a full blown frenzy. We’re already at the point now where rumours reportedly sourced form family members are coming out, and it’s all so much “anything could happen!” But none of it probably will.
However, I am very much of the mind that we should go all in and enjoy this ride. We don’t get these big free agent moves very often anymore, and the media being absolutely ridiculous is entertaining at least. What else do we have to care about right now?
Just take it all in stride, like William Nylander.
