So I figured that I would follow in the great Deadspin's footsteps and provide a round-up of interesting articles in the morning with a little commentary.
I'll leave the comments open for name suggestions. There's some talk around the other SB Nation blogs that the Leafs fans are the least creative but I told them that they are all full of it. Leaf fans are the best at everything so try to prove me right. Also, if you come across any interesting articles or blog posts or write your own e-mail them to me and I'll try to include them. Anyway, here is today's installment:
- PPP has a recap of last night's meeting showing it to be the season in a nutshell. No kidding genius.
The Canadian Press has an article about Wellwood's struggles. Nowhere does it mention his laziness or rotund visage or his dad's attempt this summer to throw him under the bus.
Greener writes the same article but better and with emotion. Also, no ready-made excuses for Kyle since there are no acceptable reasons for his play this year.
Godd Till makes it much tougher for me to want to trade Sundin. It definitely tugs at the heartstrings and makes you want to see Mats retire as a Leaf and trading him does not preclude him from returning this summer. I hate to say it but if Mats really loves Toronto so much he'll leave and come back and help make the team that much stronger. The Leafs won't get what they need from trading Kubina, Tucker, Blake, and McCabe.
Dave Shoalts reports that Cliff has hired a new professional scout. 27 more days to the deadline.
Dave again with good news for Godd. Cliff has not spoken to Mats about waiving his no-trade clause. Bad new for everyone: he hasn't spoken to McCabe either.
Paul Hunter reports that the feeding frenzy with the Leafs is set to begin. I don't understand it really. All opposition fans tell us is that all of the Leafs' players are the worst in history. Why would there be 18 scouts at the game?
Dave Feschuk mentions my conspiracy theory but what the hell is a comedown? It's a riot that the OTPP fears. He also blows up the "just stop going to games and things will work out" theory./
UPDATE (1:03PM)
- MF37, unsurprisingly, does a much better job than Feschuk at proving once and for all that the mittenstringers don't have a clue when they say that Leaf fans are to blame for this mess./
Here's a tribute video from one of Godd's links. Best.Leaf.Ever.
