Luckily for the Leafs, others team in the Stamkos Sweepstakes won last night so the two game winning streak has not moved the Leafs out of 28th.
Tonight they host the Buffalo Sabres who had lost 10 games in a row (5 via OT/SO) before absolutely destroying Atlanta. This is great news for the Leafs since a re-energized Sabres team will likely be too much for them. If the Leafs win tonight they'll be just five points out of 8th in the East and that is close enough for JFJ to try to trade for Yannick Perreault.
What the team doesn't need tonight is for the opposition to hit more posts, for the powerplay to continue to score, and for the complementary players to provide secondary scoring. Hopefully, the Leafs can recapture their previous form and do just enough to lose since the mittenstringers are already losing focus.
On the injury front, Mark Bell will be out for 8 weeks after surgery, Carlo is indefinite since he can't even skate on his knee, and McCabe is about 1-3 weeks away from returning.
Anyway, remember to put your SPG guesses in and let's brainstorm reasons why the Sabres will beat the Leafs tonight.
