The Leafs are back in action as they travel to the Swamp...err...The Rock to face their nemesis the New Jersey Devils and their gutless puke enforcer. After the now infamous hit, the suspension now seems ridiculous in light of Downie and Boulerice, Tomas Kaberle missed 8 games.
The Leafs went 4-3-1 with powerplay stats of 0-6, 0-8, and 1-8 in the three losses and missed Kaberle in the shootout against the Habs after his brilliant deke earlier in the year. Basically, the Devils' POS cost the Leafs the playoffs.
The Leafs are 9-1-1 since the lockout after losing by 5 or more goals so if past performance means anything, and with the Leafs it usually means nothing, the buds will return to Canada with two points. Cue the Brodeur shutout. Also, check out 5 Questions With...Devils Daily for the satanic view on the game.
As a reminder, the debacle on Monday night means that "No One Worthy" has entered the Player of the Game sweepstakes. I'll keep a running tally of the results in the right sidebar. Also, in the pre-game comments, I want to get a prediction game going so put in your guesses for who will score take the first shot, get the first penalty, and score the first goal. I'll keep a running tally of the results in the right sidebar. For the Caps' game the winning predictions were: Shot - Ponikarovsky, Penalty - Kubina, and Goal - Ponikarovsky. This is also getting tracked in the sidebar but so far Evening News Team and I are drawing blanks.
As always, your thoughts throughout the game are much appreciated in the comments. Each period and overtime/shootout gets their own section so just reply to the relevant section's main post. You need to set up an account to comment so register and share your thoughts.
